Barbados is home to a truly unique five-week-long summer festival known as the Crop Over. The Crop Over originates back to the 1780s when the festival celebrated a prosperous year within the sugar cultivation. Today, many Barbadian elements have been added to give the traditional Crop Over a unique Caribbean flare. During this festival visitors can enjoy calypso music, folk concerts, parades, shows and art exhibitions.
