St. Maarten is the smallest territory in the world to be shared by 2 different nations. The French & Dutch have peacefully co-existed on this island for almost 350 years.  However, they have managed to keep the distinctiveness of their culture.  With its beautiful white-sand beaches, small cafes and bistros, fine cuisine, and luxury boutiques filled with the latest French designs, St. Maarten can be considered ‘France in the tropics’.
